Guns and Glory Episode 7 : 1999 Indo-Pak War in Kargil Part A

In Part 1 on the Kargil War, Guns and Glory sets up the sequence of events as they unfolded in Pakistan and India and why and who the main players were in the making of the conflict. This show details how the euphoric new beginning of Bus Diplomacy was subverted by the devious plans set in motion by 4 Pakistani Generals. How the Northern Light Infantry were tasked with occupying 132 abandoned Indian posts across the Line of Control and how 3 shepherds first noticed the intrusion. The show tells the tragic story of Lt. Saurabh Kalia and his abduction and torture by Pakistani forces and it relives the pounding that was unleashed on them when India brought in the Bofors Howitzers. We also look at how the Indian Air Force redefined the waging of Air warfare in the rarified atmosphere of High Mountain regions.

Guns and Glory Episode 8 : 1999 Indo-Pak War in Kargil Part B

In part 2 of the Kargil War The show draws out the contours of the war as India cleared one hill top after another of the Pakistani intruders. The implications of the intercepted telephonic conversations, made public, between Gen. Pervez Musharraf and Gen. Md. Aziz. How the Government of India used open media coverage to swing international opinion in its favour and how the Electronic media came of age during the Kargil war. In this episode we look at the bravery of the Indian soldiers and how they regained Tiger Hill and how the Indian Navy patrolled the Sea coast of Pakistan to cut off supplies and aid coming in from outside. The show also tells us how mounting losses in battle pressure from the US forced Pakistan to announce a humiliating and unequivocal withdrawal of all Pakistani troops from the heights of Kargil.
