Guns and Glory Episode 1 : 1971 Indo-Pak war Part 1

This is the first of the two-part story of the War of 1971. Here can be found the setting for the war that led to the birth of Bangladesh. Detailed are the moves and counter moves of people who played a role in shaping the history of the sub-continent at that time...Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi.... Dictator of Pakistan Yahya Khan...Leader of West Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mujibur Rahman - the man who should have been Prime Minister of Pakistan but instead led the revolt to dissect it. And then the events of the actual war...the decisive battle of Garibpur...The role of PT 76 in the soggy terrain of East Pakistan and what happened at Boundary pillar 638 in Rajasthan. All of this and more is what forms the first episode of Guns and Glory.

This is the second of the two-part story of the War of 1971. In this episode relive in detail the deadly Karachi attack by the missile boats of the Indian Navy and how in the stealth of the night Karachi harbour was devastated. From there the story moves to the East where the strategy of the Indian land forces is to bypass all major fortifications and head straight for Dacca (Then capital of East Pakistan). The role of the Mukti Bahini, the BSF and what happened when a US Nuclear Task Force entered the Bay of Bengal to create pressure on India. But what was a Soviet nuclear submarine doing tailing the Americans? All these stories from a war that culminates in the signing of the surrender document by which 93 thousand Pakistani soldiers become Indian Prisoners of War.
