Scientists are warning that vast glaciers in Western Antarctica seem to be falling apart, with two recent reports indicating that changes to the glacier system have reached irrevirsible and unstoppable levels. They were based partly on satellite radar measurements over the last 20 years. The glacier system in question includes six in total, and hold enough ice to raise global sea levels by 1.2 metres. But their disappearance would also destabilise neighbouring sectors of the ice sheet. Al Jazeera's Gerald Tan reports.
