Russian scientists have resurrected an entire plant from an Ice Age seed which is about 32-thousand years old.

The researches have produced a small white tundra flower called Silene Stenophylia from permafrost. They found an ancient frozen nest of Arctic ground squirrels 30 meters underground. The scientists took some of the seeds they found in that nest and brought them back to a lab.

The researchers say the experiment proves that permafrost serves as a natural depository for ancient life forms. Permafrost is soil at or below the freezing point of water for two or more days.
