Authorities in Colombia have issued a warning over an increase in seismic activity near the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, which in 1985 caused the nation's deadliest known natural tragedy, which claimed 25,000 lives. President Gustavo Petro announced on Friday that there was a greater risk of an eruption, reiterating a warning the Colombian Geologic Service had made the day before.
